Join us for our VIRTUAL Mid-Year Summit to find out what I-NOMA has in the works and how you can get involved! NOTE: Login information for the meeting will be distributed via calendar invite. Please RSVP if you are planning to attend.
Please log in on-time as we will begin the presentation at the beginning of the meeting. After the presentation, we will have a town-hall event. The floor will be open for everyone to voice their thoughts, concerns, and words of action.
Our featured program will be a joint presentation by I-NOMA treasurer Mntambo Fisher of HOK and Taft Cleveland of SmithGroup on healthcare design and health equality.
With the ever-changing landscape of healthcare, the mechanisms that dictate the design of wellness facilities go far beyond such basic metrics as bed count or square footage. There is also the social political design aspect that addresses how best to serve the community at large. The delivery method for care is “not one size fits all.” Hospitals must continue to take into account the unique cultural needs of their patients in local, regional and international communities. To address these complex challenges, we will explore three healthcare facilities, Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI, The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH and Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) in Montreal, Quebec that have had a distinct impact on providing patient care. All three hospital types will show how the genesis of their designs were influenced by their geographical location, local and national sociopolitical landscape, and unique culture which in turn dictates the scale, programming, and aesthetics of these buildings.
We hope to see you there!
