Bridging the Gaps: AIA Illinois recognizes Oswaldo Ortega with the 2016 Madison Diversity Award
The new president of the I-NOMA chapter was presented the 2016 Alan Madison Diversity Award at the Chicago office of Gensler last October. This award is given to minority architects or architectural interns demonstrating leadership ability and promoting diversity within the profession. Ortega’s ceaseless efforts to unite the masses and guide the youth have introduced new initiatives to the I-NOMA chapter and helped generate momentum for years to come. Specifically, his efforts directing the Project Pipeline Summer Camp last fall created a model for chapters across the nation. In addition to leading the local chapter, Oswaldo is a co-lead mentor with the ACE Chicago Mentoring Program. AIA recognizes his vocational achievements as well as his commitment to serving the community.
